Double rom-com weekend

Flashback to the time I scored two Hallmark movies that premiered the same weekend!

The Professional Bridesmaid, on Hallmark Channel, just might be the ultimate Hallmark rom-com, featuring all the trimmings of glamorous weddings, a charming meet-cute, a covert mission, a breakup, and…well, you can probably guess how it ends. Hunter King stars as Maggie, a professional bridesmaid who books a high-profile wedding and must keep her identity a secret from Henry (Chandler Massey), the handsome reporter covering the event.

For this score I wanted to capture all the beauty and elegance of wedding traditions, as well as the charm and magical fix-it abilities of the young entrepreneur, Maggie. I used orchestral instruments like flute, clarinet, harp, strings, and piano to ground the score in a more traditional romantic sound, but added electric piano, drums, guitar, and a few synths to bring a more modern spirit to this story of young love.

Meanwhile, on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, The Blessing Bracelet features a single mom (Amanda Schull) who launches a side-hustle and inspires others to count their blessings during the Easter season. It’s a heartwarming story of gratitude, community, romance, family, faith, and adorable dogs. I started this score with a hopeful flute solo joined by acoustic guitar and a gospel choir, which felt like a good way to forecast the story to come. I chose strings, oboe, and piano for the love story, aiming for a deeper and warmed sound for this story of finding love the second time around. Carlo Marks also stars.

Both of these movies are still in regular rotation on the various Hallmark networks, and they are now playing internationally too.
