Rip In Time, a romance across the centuries

For this beautiful Hallmark movie starring Niall Matter and Torrey DeVito, the filmmakers wanted a score that was melodic, heartfelt, and uncomplicated. I started out writing some themes for piano, flute, and acoustic guitar, bringing in strings and solo violin for the love theme. For the comedic scenes, I thought it would be fun to play off the idea of Baroque music, the music of Rip’s time. And for Rip and Sarah’s trip to New York, I wanted to invoke the grand tradition of romantic movies set in NYC with jazz scores, so I did a couple of jazz arrangements of Rip’s piano theme.

Here’s a playlist of some of my favorite cues from this score. Hope you enjoy it.
